It depends on your riding style and usage !  Busettii's Big 50 Mile Cruiser is designed for fast acceleration from 0--22 mph.  The top speed in pedal assist mode is up to 27 mph but we can also govern the speed if you want.  However for 0--22 mph it is faster than any other mass production e-bike in the USA.  For city riding weaving in and out of traffic with stop and go conditions or riding up very steep hills (12--16 degree hills)  This is the best Bike ! 

Vortex Mountain Bike has heavy duty front shocks & front and back disc brakes for rough terrain.  The acceleration is not as fast as Big 50 BUT,  Vortex top speed is 32 mph in pedal assist mode.  For people who ride on Rough roads or trails The Vortex is much more durable with extra wide KENDA super tires.  The VORTEX will not climb STEEP hills (14--20 degrees) as fast as BIG 50 MILE !   But, it will still climb them at a slower speed.  ALSO, the feeling of pedaling the VORTEX at above 25 mph is much smoother and easier than the BIG 50 mile bike.

These 52 volt 11ah and 15ah BYI soft pack strip cell (deep cycle) Lithium Polymer batteries are a major technology breakthrough   The technical name is Lithium Polymer soft pack strip cell battery (or Super Lithium soft packs).  This is a big leap forward because it holds 55% more usable power per pound (very low safety shut off) than other Li-on batteries.  It also does not heat up while charging or using.  BYI softpack Super Li-ion can last 300-400% longer than other Li-on types and this allows us to give a 3 year 2000 charge FULL REPLACEMENT WARRANTY on the battery and motor. Much more durable and maintenence free than hub motor bikes.  

      Busettii has been making hub motor electric bikes for over 5 years.  There is one big problem with hub motors located in the center of the spokes on the wheel.   This problem is inefficiency.  Electric motors are not like gas engines in that they only have a very small range of optimal efficiency as regards to RPM.  Hub motors on most e-bikes are required to mostly be run at variousRPMs that are mostly not optimal rates for the motors RPM efficiency.   Also, the G force created by the rear wheel going air born and leaving the ground after a road bump creates massive stress on the spokes along with increased angular momentum which often rips the spokes out of their sockets if you are on ROUGH mountain trails.  Even very strong and well adjusted spokes can be sheared right off a wheel by the angular momentum of the wheel returning to meet the earth surface If the road is very bumpy or has big rocks.  (on smooth or paved roads Hub motors are fine). 

The Vortex motor solves this problem by being located under the pedal crank assembly and not in the wheel.  Also, it allows the motor to be run much closer to optimal RPM range while the worm drive and internal gearing adjust to keep the gear ratio in proportion to that good RPM zone.  The only thing that matters in the Vortex Motor is that form follows function.  This motor reaches is functional goal of lower energy input to produce an equal torque output in direct relation to that of a normal hub mounted motor.   Basically the torque of the Vortex motor is double that of a 500 watt hub motor and roughly equal to that of a 1000 watt motor. 

By running the chain through a worm drive configuration we can add yet another benefit to this drive train.  The benefit of pedal power going directly onto the same gears and ratio as the motor.   On almost all other e-bikes actually on the market now,  the drive train is totally or partially separate.  The end results is that pedal power has no effect on the forward speed of the e-bike beyond 17 mph.   The Vortex worm drive allows the rider to have a constant power contribution even up to speeds of 35 mph because they are operating on a single drive train and interlocking gear ratio unlike that of other e-bikes.  This also has the benefit of conserving power during acceleration by adding singular momentum to the drive train (as opposed to dual momentum which creates a drag on the system by having 2 separate drive mechanisms.)

Also,  as a hub motor speeds beyond the RPMs required for 15 mph the extra weight of the motor (12---16 lbs.) and the heavy duty spokes (2--3 lbs.) creates a new centrifugal drag that increases greatly based on not only RPMs but also mass in motion.  Heavy wheels are fine at 15 mph but at 25 mph the increased drag has already tripled from 15 mph.   The same angular momentum that snaps the spokes also drains the battery power at 300% increase from 15 to 25 mph.   

The Vortex bike makes it possible to go much further distance at a much higher speed.   Also, for the rider that wants to be able to pedal at speeds above 18 mph and still contribute to the bike speed,  the Vortex is the only choice.  99% of the other bikes on the market have no effective pedal power after 18 mph ,  must just use battery power which gets sucked down fast at high speeds. 
Vortex can still go 46--51 miles on one charge even cruising at a steady 25 mph in overdrive.   Most other high speed bikes will only ride about 10--12 miles per CHARGE WHEN CRUISING AT 25 mph steady speed.  Even though they can get 25--29 miles when cruising at 15 mph and these other rival bikes will cost over $3600 retail price.
